Georgia Water Coalition
For many years, Georgia has been blessed with an abundant supply of water. Our heritage of plentiful, clean, flowing water has driven a growth spurt and made our state an attractive location for businesses and families. But, now we face a new reality. Increased water consumption and the exceptional drought in north Georgia that ended in 2009 have highlighted the fact that water is a finite resource. Georgia is now at a crossroads.
The Georgia Water Coalition (GWC) is a group of individuals and organizations working to ensure that the waters of the state continue to belong to the people of the state. Currently, GWC consists of more than 180 organizations representing more than 250,000 Georgians. The GWC is working to ensure that water is managed fairly for all Georgians, with the interest of all citizens, existing businesses and farms in mind.
