UCR has a staff of eight full-time and four part-time employees in its Atlanta, Headwaters and LaGrange offices.  It's 5,000-plus members include business people, parents, government leaders, activists, students, anglers, paddlers, and others.

UCR was founded in 1994 by Laura Turner Seydel and Rutherford Seydel. Founding Director and Riverkeeper Sally Bethea continues to lead UCR in its fight to protect the Chattahoochee River, its lakes and tributaries. Its member Board of Directors provides governance and support for UCR’s mission.
